Chelsea Blackerby

As a woman, yogini, mother, artist and sculptor Chelsea's work is inspired by the dynamics of living in a body, what it means to share space with others and the potency and aliveness that can be had by bringing more awareness to anything one does.

Chelsea found yoga in 1999, at the ripe age of 17, in a little bookstore on a walk home from school. She began a solitary Sadhana practice. She practiced everyday in her backyard. Her grandmother affectionately explained to their neighbors and her dad that Chelsea was "practicing her yogurt."

Chelsea's learning accelerated when she found teachers Bill and Margot Milcetich in 2011. Committing to this practice guided by them stoked a fire inside which became brilliant, fierce and enduring. Chelsea is still warmed by this inner fire and remains in awe at the perpetual depths each one of us have, if we dare to go there.

Chelsea completed her 200 hr training through Bramrishi Yoga in 2013 and continues to studying with her teachers.

Chelsea's classes begin with flowing movements to ease residual tension and open the breath. Longer static holds then build strength in a body that's relaxed. Time to close our eyes and feel is woven throughout class and punctuates the end in deep rest. Her approach to body alignment can benefit anyone who wishes to experience greater energy, a deepening sense of wellbeing and a greater freedom of movement.

Aside from her work, she loves spending time with family, writing, reading, gardening and cooking. She also has a strong interest in building women's community and is currently studying to be a doula.

Florey Cordon

Florey tried Yoga for the first time over 13 years ago with a class at the Kent Wellness Center. The instructor suggested Florey check out Kent Yoga which at that time was located in the Apples plaza. She started yoga classes weekly trying to figure out the breathing, the poses, the excitement but what she needed to figure out was BEING in the moment, the present moment. It took time, years, but when the “AH HA” moment hit her and it was a beautiful thing!

Florey learned to listen to her breathing, breathing in poses and the excitement of the breath that carries you through a flow. She learned to listen and sit quietly with her breath and be still (which was very hard for her). At the suggestion of some yoga friends, Florey decided to take her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training at the Yoga Place in Canton. She met wonderful teachers and received her certificate in 2012. She was trained in Hatha Yoga & Iyengar Yoga. When she was able to teach, she taught at RP Fitness and filled in at Kent Yoga which was now located at the Kent Silk Mill. She was offered to teach a class weekly at Kent Yoga, her yoga home, she felt both honored and blessed. Florey's teaching fundamentally centers around alignment with lots of stretching to warm up the body. Use of props for proper alignment helps students adjust to the pose with their own bodies. She believes in teaching students wherever they are in their yoga journey so her classes can be a mix of beginners to yoga gurus!

When Florey is not teaching yoga, she can be found selling fine wines and driving her son around for activities. She also does a wine and yoga class that has been a very social event! She continues on her yoga journey and still considers herself a student learning every day.

Eric Dreger

A mind that needed to settle, a heart and body that needed to heal….

Eric came to Yoga, in the summer of 2013, after the sudden and tragic loss of his wife and life partner of 28 years.  Becoming a single father of five children and having a highly stressful career in law enforcement, he began to draw upon his previous athletic endeavors, running and weight lifting, to fill the space. Being somewhat competitive, by nature, this quickly led to extensive effort and resultant injury from overuse and fatigue.

A close friend and yoga instructor, Kim Quinn, suggested to Eric try yoga. With One Love Studio, being only a vision and in the planning stages, she took him to meet Charry Shakti Morris, who was doing a small group yoga class, in the studio above her garage in Hudson, Ohio. Yogarage, as it would be called, would be his first experiences with what would eventually become a lifelong journey of yoga. When One Love Studio opened, in the fall of 2103, Charry and Kim encouraged Eric to join the studio to further his experience and practice. Eric found One Love Yoga studio to be an amazing collection of yoga instructors who had a passion and commitment to teaching and bringing yoga to everyone they met.  Of his initial One Love Yoga experience, Eric would say, “If it had not been for the wonderful, caring and nurturing experience of the One Love teachers, I likely would not have stayed with the studio. I was at a tipping point in my life and seeking a new normal. Their dedication and commitment to teaching their students was nothing short of amazing!”

Prior to yoga, Eric was always doing something athletic. An avid runner and weight trainer, he continues these activities with a balance of yoga to maintain overall fitness, flexibility and strength.  In his twenties, Eric became a student of martial arts. He studied under the styles of Tai Chi Chuan and Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. When he started yoga, Eric noticed the overlap of these ancient art forms in many of the yoga poses. Some of Eric’s flow, in classes, infuses these styles to link breath with movement. “Learning to be able to breathe and move again, was critical for me. This was one of the most amazing things yoga has taught me.”, Eric would say.

Through Charry Shakti Om, Eric was introduced to Hatha yoga, in the lineage of Sri Dharma Mittra. Eric learned from several of his master teachers in seminars and retreats that Charry hosted. He has learned and studied the chakras, yamas and niyamas and pranayama (breath).  He also learned fundamentals of Thai Massage.  For her guidance, friendship and mentoring he is eternally grateful. Eric tries to incorporate these teachings in to his classes and focuses on meeting the student where they are at. “I know firsthand how hard it can be for someone to come into a yoga studio and try to settle the mind and practice. We all carry so much. I like to meet students where they are that day, this week, in life and on their mat to help them discover the benefits of yoga.

Eric recently completed his 200 hour YTT training with One Love Yoga in April 2016.  It was an amazing experience and opportunity for which he is eternally grateful. Eric’s final advice to any new student of yoga, “Be receptive, yoga has much to offer.”

She strongly believes that yoga has strong healing powers for both emotional and physical ailments.
